Overall Conference Objectives:

·         Raise awareness of the public health's critical role in making America safer.

·         Educate the public about programs and services in their area that can create a safer, injury free community

·         Identify strategies that can be used to reduce the incidence of injury

·         Develop culturally and age appropriate messages that reduce the risk of injury

  • Pam Goslar, PhD - Topic - Injury Surveillance and Prevention Efforts in Arizona
  • Esther Corbett - Topic - Injuries and Prevention Programs on Arizona Tribal Reservations
  • Javier Cárdenas, MD - Strategies for the Prevention of  Pediatric Brain Injury
  • Lana Whitehead & Timothy Flood, MD - Topic- Promotion of Water Safety Skills Prevent Child Drowning

PARKING- We strongly encourage you to use public transportation to attend the conference.  Please view the light rail map for the easiest points to park and ride.  There will be limited parking adjacent to the conference at the Spring Hill Hotel on the North East corner of 7th St. & Van Buren.  Directly south of the auditorium there is parking for a fee available.  Aside from the park and ride locations on the map, limited parking is available at the AzPHA office which is near a light rail station.  For more parking details contact the office.

The Greater Valley Area Health Education Center (GVAHEC) will be providing and coordinating continuing education for this event.  GVAHEC will be seeking continuing education for physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, physician assistants, community health education specialists (CHES), social workers and dentists. Please check the AzPHA Website for updates.

This event has been approved for 4.75 Continuing Education Units by the California Board of Registered Nursing Provider Number:  CEP12830.

This event has been approved for 5.5 Continuing Education Hours for Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics

Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.

CONFERENCE REFUND POLICY:

Conference registration fees can be refunded with written notice up to two weeks prior to the conference date.  Deadlines for refund requests will be printed in all conference brochures.  After the deadlines, no refunds will be given.  Memberships and donation that have been charged are non-refundable.
